Whyteleafe FC 4 Bearsted FC 0. Church Road.
Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round. Attendance – 205.
Bearsted FC of the Southern Counties East League Premier Division were our opponents this round after Leafe beat Glebe 11 days earlier. We should actually have been playing Peacehaven & Telscombe but they were removed from the competition for fielding an ineligible player and Bearsted were reinstated in their place. It was a comfortable afternoon for Whyteleafe, looking dangerous pretty much every time they got forward, Bearsted did have a few chances but weren’t able to find the back of the net. It was a good start for Leafe who took the lead after 4 minutes with Omari Hibbert firing home from the edge of the penalty box, 8 minutes later and it was 2-0, Ryan Gondoh this time with a great strike. Captain Helge Orome got himself on the scoresheet in the 40th minute slotting home when the ball went loose on edge of box to put Leafe 3-0 up at half time. Leafe on another day probably could’ve scored at least 6 or 7 but it was just the 4 in the end when Omari Hibbert got his second goal of the game in the 74th minute, a ball played over the Bearsted defence and Omari picked his spot nicely to round off a comfortable win!
