WHYTELEAFE FC 1 CHICHESTER CITY FC 0. CHURCH ROAD.
ISTHMIAN LEAGUE SOUTH EAST DIVISION. ATTENDANCE – 175.
On quite a chilly afternoon down at Church Road, Whyteleafe made it 5 wins in 5 games so far this season (2 league and 3 FA cup games). The only change to the starting lineup was Aaron Watson coming in for Omari Hibbert, who was missing due to a slight knock picked up. Opening 10 minutes were fairly equal even though Tyler McCarthy was forced into making a good save after Chichester pounced on a short back pass. As the first half went on, Chichester goalkeeper pulled off two good saves from Aaron Watson and a few other half chances which presented itself for Whyteleafe. Half time saw the teams go in at 0-0, 4 minutes into the second half and Whyteleafe scored the only goal of the game. Aaron Watson sliding in to get on the end of a decent cross from Dami Olurunnisomo. Whyteleafe kept pushing for the second goal, with 5 minutes to go Ryan Gondoh looked like he had added Leafe’s second of the game but the officials didn’t think so (See the video below the pictures on this page… certainty looked close and good old VAR may have given it!). Down the other end Chichester came very, very close to grabbing an equaliser in the 88th minute with the ball put across the 6 yard box but no one managed to get on the end of it. Overall, a deserved victory for Leafe which on another day could’ve seen a few more goals!
